He missed his wings. It wasn't something Lucifer would ever admit to those who knew how important those wings were to him. Not to Mazikeen. Not to Amenadiel. But he missed them.
Yes, he had Maze cut them off when they left Hell, but that was so they could never return. But he'd held onto them, that splendid piece of divinity, hidden and safe until they were stolen. They were a loophole, a possible way back if he really, REALLY needed it. Then they were recovered. The man who was supposed to be auctioning them off, so enchanted by the divine power of those beautiful white feathers, had kept them for himself. After some of his special persuasion, Lucifer had them back. Along with the knowledge of who had shown the criminal where to find them.
So, it was at the beach, where he confronted his brother who had hoped the theft would encourage him to return to Hell that he destroyed them forever. In front of Amenadiel, he set fire to them, so he could never, ever return to that place where he had so unwillingly ruled.
But he missed them. No, he didn't regret burning them, but at the same time, they were HIS wings, a part of him. Unlike others fallen angels, his had survived his Fall. It was why he had kept them, not for the loophole because he knew he would never go back, and now they were gone. Permanently gone, and he would never be able to enjoy their beauty again.
